In the USSR there also were luxurious voyages. Well, kind of luxurious…
It is not a cruise liner as such, but let us believe it to be one.

The riverside station from which the “liner” sets out.

Transfer station on the water.

Sometimes it is even something not boring to observe.

One could always be suddenly overcome by sleep.

From time to time one needs to make a stop, have a rest, stand on the native ground for a while.

The man probably isn’t wearing pyjamas, but some pants of ultrafashionable style and color.

The World cruise ship costs and life aboard the World- My new retirement plan

The World Cruiseship

The World is the name for a luxury cruise ship which slowly travels the world, spending 2-5 days at each port. It is a not a typical holiday cruise liner. On this cruise ship, it is owned by its residents. People buy their apartment, and can live on board, or call it their holiday home.

The World has a crew of 250 people, and 165 accommodation units - including, studio, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments, and a 6 bedroom penthouse suite. It also has a grocery store, five restaurants, a movie theater, among many other amenities.
For those seeking a daily routine a bit more fulfilling than relaxing, being entertained, working on your fitness level and golf score, there are also many classes for which you can take part in. Need to learn a new language? Some new cooking skills? How about some dance lessons?

Do you ever wonder how best to spend your retirement years? Perhaps not, though I still have a wonderful proposition for you. How does it sound to wake up every morning in your own apartment - which just happens to have a sea-view. Then making your way upstairs, past the library, to decide if you feel like stopping for some rooftop golf, a trip to the spa, or to stay in shape with a trip to the gym. From there you can decide where to dine for lunch, fancy some french food today? A light, gourmet, soup or sandwich? How does this sound while making a tour of the world?
Too good to be true? Well not for some.

How much does the World cruise ship cost?

If you're looking to rent one of these rooms, one night in the studio apartment will cost you between $1300-$2300. Purchasing an apartment on board starts at $2 million, plus the annual maintenance fees which can range from $60 000 to $270 000. Likely if you have to ask 'how much?', it will cost too much.

Luxury Cruise Ship
Cruise ships are known for their luxury and amenities, but there is one ship that beats out every other cruise ship when it comes to not only luxury but also privacy. The World, which is managed by ResidenSea, is one of the most unique cruise ships in the world.
Although the ship is capable of accommodating as many as 1,500 guests, the cruise line prefers to keep guests at under 300 and crew members at not much more than that. This five-star luxury ship made its first voyage in the spring of 2002 and since that time has become a ship popular with individuals who are looking to enjoy the finest lifestyle available.

Accommodations Aboard The World
The World is most well known for offering private retreats. The ship offers a total of five suites that are designed with pure luxury in mind. These suites; the Presidential, the Emperor, the World, the Ambassador and the Royal, are ideal for passengers who truly want to pamper themselves. The going rate per night is just $2,500.
In addition, guests have the option of renting an apartment that ranges between 1,100 and 4,000 square feet and contains between two and six bedrooms. The apartment rental prices begin at $2,500. There are also studios available for rent that begin at 290 square feet and go up to 1,100 square feet. These are available for renting beginning at $1,300 per night.
While renting a suite or apartment might be fine for some, if you can afford a bit more luxury, you might want to consider purchasing an entire home on this luxury cruise ship. The going rate for a studio starts out at just $825,000 while a three bedroom apartment can be purchased for just under 4 million dollars.
The residential accommodations include kitchens that are fully equipped, a living room and veranda as well as all furnishings.

Traveling Around the World

While not everyone who owns a residence aboard the ship lives on board full time, those who do have the opportunity to tour the globe at a leisurely pace. The ship has been known to visit more than one hundred ports in dozens of countries on numerous continents in a single year.
Generally, the ship does place an emphasis on Mediterranean and Greek coastal cities, but the ship has also visited numerous other locales as well. While the ship is in port, those on board have the opportunity to take part in organized shore excursions or find their own entertainment. The ship is typically in port at each destination for an average of two and a half days. In some instances, the ship may remain in port up to five days.

Amenities on The World

The World also offers a wide range of amenities and activities which guests can enjoy during their stay on this five star luxury ship. There is a total of four fine restaurants; The Tides, Portraits, East and the Marina. Along with those four restaurants, there is also a deli as well as a poolside grill. Guests can also enjoy 24-hour room service. If you happen to be staying in an apartment on board the ship, you can also benefit from the call-a-chef option. This option provides you with the ability to request a chef to come to your apartment and prepare a meal on site for you as well as any guests who may be visiting you.

Best Luxury Cruise Ships
When it comes to luxury, the Silversea cruise ship line is considered to be among the elite. At one time Silversea was known as the most expensive cruise line, but today prices have become more competitive, at least in terms of luxury cruise ships. One of the reasons that Silversea is so popular is that it allows passengers to define their own cruise experience.
An onboard concierge is responsible for working with guests to arrange the type of experience, and itinerary, they desire. Guests even have the option of embarking and disembarking on whatever days they wish. Tips, wine, alcohol and meals are included in the per day rate.

Best Cruise Ships for Families with Children

While most cruise ships offer at least some children’s programs, you will usually find that the larger ships offer the most in terms of programs geared for kids. The Freedom class of Royal Caribbean provides activities and facilities for separate children’s use.
This particular cruise ships separates activities and programs by age group and offer different meeting areas, counselors and activities. Just a few of the children’s activities on board include an in-line skating rink that features twins, hills and corners, an expansive rock climbing wall, a nine-hole miniature golf course, an outdoor water park with water shoots and water slides, a boxing ring, tennis, basketball, an ice skating rink and a wave making machine..

Disney is often considered to be the crème de la crème for kids cruises, and it is great for small kids, but when it comes to older kids who may be concerned that there won’t be enough to keep them from becoming bored, the Freedom Class of Royal Caribbean definitely has plenty to offer.

Best Cruise Ship for Nightlife

Norwegian NIghtlife by caliellis@FlickrThis cruise ship with its Free-style cruising program has really kicked entertainment up a notch. Instead of the stand-by shows that you would normally find on a cruise ship, you will see some of the more popular shows such as “Tony and Tina’s Wedding.” There are also arts performances on offer as well as various dance lines. If you are looking for a cruise that will keep you entertained, this is certainly one to consider.
